Official: Moto X (2nd Gen) Pure Edition beginning to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade

Throw out the paperwork on soak tests, leaks and preview builds — Lollipop has officially arrived for the Pure Edition of the 2nd gen Moto X. It was only this morning that owners of Motorola’s Moto G began receiving the upgrade, but now owners of all of Motorola’s 2014 phones (some variants, anyway) can bask in the glory of Android 5.0. The changelog for the upgrade is nearly the same for both, but in case you missed it here’s a quick refresher:

The full changelog can be found right here. Of course, this doesn’t apply to any carrier-specific variants just yet. Those of you who got the Moto X directly through your carrier will have to wait for the typical rounds of testing and certification before the upgrade arrives, but if last year’s DROID phones and the Moto X are anything to go by it shouldn’t be long before carriers give the green light.

As for folks on the Pure Edition, make sure to get a decent charge on your battery, hop on WiFi and head to Settings > About Phone > System Updates to pull the new firmware down. You’ll be looking for build 22.11.6. Go go go!
