For Android users looking for a circular Android Wear powered smartwatch, up until now, the choices have been slim pickins with the Motorola Moto 360 being your best (read: only) bet. But after an official announcement back on Monday, the round smartwatch market is getting an all new entry with the LG G Watch R, now available for purchase online.
Making its official US debut, the LG G Watch R can only be picked up through AT&T’s website. But those with a little patience can see what all the hype is about firsthand when the watch hits AT&T retail stores this Friday, November 7th. The LG G Watch R features a premium PVD metal finish and is only available in black (although you can personalize it with custom watchfaces). The watch is also compatible with any standard 22mm wristband and has an IP67 water resistance rating.
The latest Android Wear update brought the ability to store music and pair headphones to the watch meaning you can leave your phone in the car if you’re planning on going for a run. There’s also a 9-axis gyroscope and accelerometer built-in hear rate sensor to keep track of your performance. While the look may not be for everyone, it’s definitely a lot more traditional than Motorola’s take on the smartwatch. AT&T listing linked below.
