NVIDIA plans to upgrade the SHIELD Tablet to Android 5.0 Lollipop by the end of November

In a video demo of Android 5.0 Lollipop running on the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet, the Santa Clara company confirmed that the upgrade would be headed to the tablet by the end of this month. Less than a month is insane turnaround time for an upgrade for any device not named “Nexus,” but NVIDIA’s SHIELD Tablet doesn’t really have much going on atop Android — just a few apps for folks to access their Tegra-optimized content with ease.

Alongside Lollipop at its core, NVIDIA showed off upgrades to the NVIDIA Hub and NVIDIA Dabbler apps. The former is where you go to find all the awesome games optimized for Tegra, while Dabbler is a painting and drawing app for use with your DirectStylus input (or your finger if you’re not into all that).

Everything’s looking quite nice, and we can’t wait to see its rollout begin. We’ll be sure to deliver the news that it’s being pushed out as soon as NVIDIA gives the green light. Give the video above a look in the meantime.
