We’re still a couple months of away from our first taste of professional football action, but you can already get your leagues setup and ready to go at numerous fantasy football sites. ESPN’s companion app for their particular platform has received an update, and boy am I glad.
What we get compared to the original — which was a pretty terrible, non-native pain in the wahoo — is a breath of fresh air. ESPN has finally hired developers to create an app that 100% adheres to Android’s design guidelines. Overflow pickers, sliding menus, and native UI elements all come together to create an app that feel at home on Android. Push notifications will alert you to pertinent goings-on as soon as they happen. Heck, they even implement circle-shaped profile photos.
On the functional side you get all your usual league management tools such as the ability to add and drop players, change your lineup, process changes and check news and stats. The only thing you can’t do from the mobile app is change league settings — that’s something you’ll need to trek away to the website for. But if there’s anything else you need to sink your teeth into once the football season starts it should be effortless with this update. Give it a go in the Google Play Store.
