Sony Xperia Z1 Compact now available direct from Sony, supports AT&T/T-Mobile 4G LTE

There’s no denying there severely lacking number of smaller Android devices packing high-end specs on the market. For most Android manufacturers, a smaller display somehow equates to a budget Android device — but not when it comes to Sony. Earlier this year we got a firsthand look at the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and fell in love with its sleek looks and higher than mid-range specs.

While Sony may have a tough time convincing US carriers to stock their wares on store shelves (or perhaps they’re just having trouble keeping up with demand for their product), they don’t seem to have any problem selling their smartphones directly to consumers via their online store.

Starting today, you can pick up the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact direct from the Sony Store for $550 unlocked. Whether you’re on T-Mobile or AT&T it shouldn’t be a problem as the phone supports both networks’ 3G/4G LTE bands. The specs aren’t as impressive as they were back in January, but they definitely still pack a punch. Here’s what you’re looking at:

Back towards the end of June, Sony began pushing Android 4.4.4 KitKat to the Z1 Compact, so for those interested in picking up the phone, rest assured it’s not like you’ll be sacrificing on software features or security.
