In a regulatory filing from this morning, Google announced that their $3.2 billion dollar acquisition of Nest is now official. We didn’t expect they’d be met with with much resistance — nothing like the AT&T/T-Mobile merger from ___ — especially given both the FTC and Department of Justice gave their blessing on the marriage last week.

With Nest CEO Tony Fadell reporting directly to Google’s Larry Page, work can finally begin. Here’s to a bright new Android@Home future and whatever else the guys at Nest/Google can dream up.

  3. Oh c’mon the NSA don’t give a flying rats ass what temp your house is, What’s in your fridge, or if your dog is outside taking a crap on the neighbors roses. The information they want is all in your phone, computer, and tablet. Those item that we use the most and keep with us all the time. Location data, call data, and Internet traffic is what they are using. And if you don’t want them to take the next step and start bugging your coffee maker Then you need to stop being a pseudo sarcastic jackass and join the fight against the NSA surveillance as well as the opposition to the trans Pacific partnership. Bring the fight to them! Make them be accountable! And make sure your government knows that you won’t stand for it!
