T-Mobile’s Nexus 5 might be a bit more expensive than the one you can find in the Google Play Store, but it’s still a good option for those who aren’t interested in paying the full $350 bill for this device up front. The device has become even cheaper through Magenta, with the carrier now offering it for $0 down at an off-contract price of $396. That figures to be about $16.50 per month installments for 24 months with T-Mobile’s Simple Choice plans.
The carrier made waves in the wireless industry at CES last week with a big announcement — they would pay your ETF fee for up to 5 lines for leaving Verizon, Sprint or AT&T. That proposition comes with the commitment to trade your old smartphone in and buy a new one from T-Mobile, but it’s not a bad idea if you’re looking for a change and your contract situation is holding you back. The icing on the cake is that T-Mobile’s the most open and accepting carrier out there, so having the most open phone seems like a no-brainer.
The Nexus 5 was awarded numerous high marks in our testing, with the Snapdragon 800 chipset, 5-inch 1080p display and 2GB of RAM being quite the combo to run stock Android 4.4 KitKat.
