During last night’s CES Unveiled, Parrot’s unveiled their upcoming connected toy line but the high-flying MiniDrone was only one-half of the equation. Where the MiniDrone dominates the sky, Parrot’s Jumping Sumo takes to the ground, featuring a more rugged design that is able to take a beating and keep on ticking… or flipping, rather.
The Jumping Sumo has a single extendable arm that has enough power to launch the Sumo high into the air, clearing stairs or any other obstacles standing in its way. The arm can also grab items, carrying the precious cargo back to the user.
During the demo, we watch as the Sumo flipped, fell, and took a tumble, all while being controlled by the companion mobile app. The app also shows a live feed for a handy first-person view of the action. Again, no word on exact availability of the Jumping Sumo or its MiniDrone sibling, but expect to have both of them in time for the 2014 holiday season.
