Nexus devices aren’t always top of the smartphone heap in terms of specs, but even so, there are a number of reasons Android evangelists prefer the Nexus series. Not only are new Nexus devices first to launch with the latest and greatest Android OS version, but older Nexus devices are also first to enjoy updates to the spiffy new builds.
That’s exactly what is happening – right now – with Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets from both the 2012 and 2013 editions, with Nexus 4 updates coming soon, too.
It’s worth noting that Google specifically mentions “Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 versions with mobile data will be getting the update soon,” so WiFi only devices should be getting the update now with cellular connected devices to follow.
There’s not a whole lot more to say at this point, but I’m sure I’ve lost most of my target audience who are now neck deep in their device settings, checking to see if the update has rolled out to them yet.
If you’ve received the update, let us know how it goes in the comments, and head on over to our Nexus 4 Forum and Nexus 7 Forum for a whole lot more. Stay tuned for more coverage as this story develops!
