Android 4.4 KitKat Easter Egg phase 2

Android 4.4 KitKat build KRT13 shows up in Phandroid.com web logs

Today was a good day for Android 4.4 KitKat leaks. First, we saw new images where the Nexus 5 posed for blurry cam pictures, next we saw screenshots leaked, showing us glimpses inside the latest version of Android. Now, while digging through our web server logs, we just happened to come across a few interesting tidbits of information.

The Nexus 5 and Nexus 4, coming from Google owned IP addresses, has been doing a little Phandroid.com reading. Android 4.4 KitKat build number KRT10, KRT10F, and KRT13 has shown up on our web servers. It looks like these builds are fairly new, coming from October 10th and October 13th, with the latest build being KRT13.

If you’re curious how we determined the build date, just follow these easy steps.

First letter = release family, e.g. J is Jelly Bean, K is KitKat
Second letter = branch code that allows Google to identify the code branch that the build was made from. R is by convention the primary release branch.
Third letter and the two numbers = date code. The letter counts quarters, with A being Q1 2009.
Last letter = individual versions related to the same date code. A is the first build of the day and usually omitted. B is the second build of the day, etc.

Sadly, we still don’t have an Android 4.4 or Nexus 5 event announcement. Until we do, we’ll keep hypebeasting.
