Would you buy this leather-backed, titanium-built smartphone for $6,600?

As a man who isn’t necessarily “rolling in the dough,” there are very few things I’d spend $6,600 on. This Android smartphone with genuine premium leather isn’t one of them. It’s the V’ertu Constellation, the company’s latest smartphone for bigwigs with big wallets. Leather isn’t the only thing making this smartphone “premium,” though.

Perhaps the toughness of the sapphire-based glass over the display is what will make sales, which is “strong enough to resist the impact of a 200g steel ball being dropped on it from a height of one metre.” Or perhaps it’s the full grade 5 titanium construction the chassis is made of.

In any case, it certainly isn’t the specs that has us drooling. While not bad, this list of specs isn’t quite indicative of a phone worth $6,600:

Of course, phones of this nature often don’t aim to be the biggest and baddest in performance. In fact, this is one of the few premium phones that offers a decent suite of specs to go along with the suave look and feel. If you’re a big baller and have $6,600 dollars to waste, you can set up a private viewing with Vertu through their website ahead of the device’s availability at some point in the weeks to come.
