Archos Gamepad 2 leaked

The original Archos Gamepad wasn’t the most popular or successful device ever, but the folks at Archos felt the need to bring us a sequel anyway. The Gamepad 2 has recently been spotted at retailer HKDTC’s website, with the listing giving us a nice, clear look at the device and some of its early specs. The page has since been taken down, but not before folks had a chance to spot the information.

The listing apparently mentioned that this device would have a 1.6GHz quad-core processor (unknown make and model), a 1280 x 800 display (no information on size), 2GB of RAM, and either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot. We imagine it’ll run some form of Jelly Bean judging by the look of the OS in the product shots, though we can’t determine which exact version just yet.

The Gamepad 2 should be bringing us a full suite of face buttons complete with a directional pad and two analog sticks. We also see a pair of shoulder buttons sitting up top, which could be made out of some sort of clear material ala the glass on the PlayStation Vita.

We’re stumped beyond that, but if product listings are starting to pop up then that must mean Archos is getting ready to make an announcement soon. We’ll have to wait for that announcement for official details on availability, pricing, and any further details about what will make the Gamepad 2 a desirable item for the gaming public (if they haven’t already fallen in love with the NVIDIA SHIELD, that is).
