Everything you wanted to know about the Samsung Galaxy Gear and Note 3 in one video

35

Yesterday was Samsung’s big day and they put on a quite a show, announcing the Samsung Galaxy Gear Android smartwatch, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. We were able to go hands-on with the Galaxy Gear and hands-on with the Note 3… but didn’t have the time or experience with the device for a full walk through and review.

You know who did? Samsung… and they’ve shared it in an epic 18-minute video showing you everything you could possibly want to know about the two devices.

You’ll want to stay tuned for our full review for the more neutral, balanced thoughts on these devices, but this gets you off to a darn good start on deeply familiarizing yourself with the hardware and software.

If you could only have ONE of these devices… which would you choose?

  1. These videos really enhances the note series. The more I read about that watch, the more I want it lol. Kudos!

  2. Whoa, 18 minutes. Do attention spans last that long these days? Brilliant stuff Samsung. Can’t wait to get me a Note 3.

    1. 18? The one I saw was only 6. … Oh, this is Note + watch.

  3. i’m i the only one that didn’t want the video to end? i’m selling my iphone 5 and getting both the gear and note 3! #superexcited

    1. Already sold my iPhone 5 for it. Yes!!!

  4. cooolllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  5. Samsung rules!!!!

  6. It’s hard to pick the watch out of the two based on you needing a phone to really take advantage of it. My choice would be the beast of a phone first. My presumption will be that it will be an add on or bundle in the very near future. maybe both for 300 down at T-mobile with 24 payments of $25.

  7. This video showed me some things that could really help me! I definitively adding this to my future purchase list!

  8. does anyone know if you can still use all those s-pen features with a different launcher like apex or something? i HATE touchwiz

    2. Yes you can, at least on my old Note One. I was running Nova and I was still able to use all the S Pen stuff. I’d imagine it’s the same story with the Note 2 and 3.

      1. yes for the note 2

        1. Looks like the other Nicholas is good to go then.

    3. Even with a different ROM you can still take advantage of many (but not all) of the SPen’s features. I don’t much care for the TouchWhiz frills; only care about being able to take notes and draw with pressure sensitivity.

(I plan on rooting and ROMing my Note3 as soon as there’s a CyanogenMod build)

      1. I only stuck with TouchWiz-based ROMs when I had my Note One, just to make sure ALL of my S-Pen functionality stuck around. I don’t remember trying any CM ROMs but I’ve tried some AOSP ones that took away most S-Pen fun.

    4. I run TFS Shell and have all of the SPen features on my Note 2. I’d imagine it will be the same with the Note 3.

    5. I don’t think any of the S-Pen features are dependent on the launcher, so you could probably use any launcher you like and still retain all of the S-Pen features.

  9. samsung has really bored the crap out of me lately this is a snooze fest. Now I need a watch to pair with my massive phone built out of plastic. Who wants to look like a dork wearing that ugly thing. if they made a clip on think like an iPod mini then were talking

    1. too bad everything apple makes breaks easier than a wet paper towel.

    2. look troll, you knew the phone was plastic when you decide to buy it. don’t complain after when you knew full well what the materials were.

  10. It’s a shame Samsung has to change Android so much just to add functionality. It looks like a completely different OS

  11. Did anyone notice that she uses the s-pen to click the back button? It sounds like a simple thing but I am pretty sure this is something new to the Note 3 that is not possible with the Note and Note 2…

  12. …and that’s Touchwiz.
    Any complains?

  13. dat lisp!!!!

  14. Did anyone else think that Samsung showed the Galaxy Gear with the Galaxy Note 3 so the Galaxy Gear wouldn’t look so big?

    1. The Gear looks bulky, ugly and laggy.

      1. you mean like every other smart watch lol

  15. it’s cool that a person can do all these things, but seems a lot of steps to do it. Seems more confusing than the concept of it just works. No i’m not just an apple fan boy. I hate all things equally.

  16. It lagged after she searched “Berlin”…

  17. shiz i watched the whole thing a while ago dint realize it was 18 minutes

  18. That watery effect on the lock screen looked nice.

  19. I expected a processor 8 Coers for this galaxy note 3!!
basically it is a kind of update hardware nothing more

  20. Good video, the Galaxy gear seems be everything I would want in a watch device. But I’m skeptical With it being Samsung and their track record for limited support and release of the API for development

  21. Fabulous video clip……it helps to know each and every thing about these masterpieces.
