Samsung Galaxy NX camera coming in October starting at $1,600
Samsung has finally given folks a release timeframe and price to look forward to for their Android-powered Samsung Galaxy NX mirrorless camera that was announced a couple of months ago. The retailer promises to bring this thing out this October, and has stamped a $1,600 price tag on it for a body-only SKU ($1,700 for the body + 18-55mm kit lens). That’s quite the steep price to pay, but Samsung’s banking on the camera’s share-focused software to show consumers why their camera deserves that kind of moolah.
The Galaxy NX will come with Android 4.2.2 and TouchWiz on-board, and features 20.3 megapixel APS-C sensor, 8.6FPS of continuous shooting, 1/6000 shutter speed, and Samsung’s hybrid auto-focus system. As for the more “phone-y” specs in this affair, you’re getting a 1.6GHz quad-core application processor, a 4.8-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (expandable via microSD card slot up to 64GB), Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi N, aGPS with GLONASS, and more.
The aforementioned pricing is for the WiFi-only model, though Samsung has mentioned that an LTE model would be on its way a bit later on. We’re not sure what to expect from that in terms of pricing, but it’s safe to assume that it’ll cost a bit more.
