The e-reading gurus behind Kobo have announced the forthcoming availability of three new tablets. These devices are part of Kobo’s “Arc” line of devices, running customized versions of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Of course, they all vary in size and price, giving folks a nice breadth of options (because one size certainly never fits all).
The Kobo Arc 7 and Arc 7 HD are both 7-inch devices, with the main difference being screen resolution, processor and RAM (and, by extension, price). The Arc 7 sports a lowly 1024 x 600, a 1.3 megapixel front camera, 1GB of RAM and MediaTek’s MTK8125 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. It only comes in 8GB, and will run you just £119.99.
Meanwhile, the Arc 7 HD kicks things up a notch with a full 1080p display, a 1.3 megapixel front camera, a Tegra 3 processor and 2GB of RAM. This particular model will be available in 16GB and 32GB flavor, coming to you for prices of £159.99 and £189.99, respectively.
Finally, the Arc 10 HD is the grandaddy of them all, with a 10-inch 2560 x 1600 display, 2GB of RAM, NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 processor, a 1.3 megapixel front camera, Bluetooth 4.0, and more. This model will only be available at one price point — £299.99 — though we assume the model will have 32GB of internal storage. All of these models will be available in the UK starting October 16th, though details for other markets have yet to come through.
