Samsung announces Galaxy Tab 3 Kids – will this make the kid’s tablet market boom?

Tablet manufacturers have been aiming to take the kid tablet market for a while, but these tablets haven’t quite taken off yet. Kid tablets tend to be far inferior, from unpopular manufacturers and don’t offer a price low enough to make parents really want them. Maybe Samsung can change the game for the little ones at home?

Samsung aims to change the kid’s tablet market with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids, a device that is said to meet the needs of those special little boys and girls. In essence, it is a colorful Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (7.0) with different aesthetics. In fact, it looks like it features some kind of permanent case.

Most of us may not put much attention to these kiddy tablets, but they definitely have a market to cater to. One that definitely hasn’t been completely satisfied so far. Kids are growing fast.

I used a computer for the first time in middle school – now it is very common to see 5 year old kids using their parents’ tablets and smartphones like they came to this world with them.

There is always a sense of worry when parents let their kids play with these expensive and delicate devices, though. Kids may be able to fully-operate these machines, but their motor skills and sense of responsibility are still that of a kid. This is why it would be smart to have a device like the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids.

While it doesn’t seem to be “rugged”, its build is much more adequate for harsh treatment. The case offers better gripping for kids, as well as the needed protection. And this tablet is not just for your kids to play Angry Birds with. It will come pre-loaded with educational material like games, books and other interactive apps. You can also access more content from a specialized app store, and parents can control app management with a provided tool.

What about those kids that simply can’t stop playing around with devices? Samsung has built a time management tool that may come in handy. You can designate adequate use times for the tablet. When the time is up and it’s ready to go to sleep, a password-protected lock screen will appear. The parent can then decide whether the kid will be allowed to keep playing or not.

Interesting featured, right? Yes, we know other manufacturers have done a great job too. This is the first time a kid’s tablet comes from a major Android manufacturer, though. We are sure this will be popular in its category and might start a nice trend.

The tablet should be available in early September for Korean kids. The rest of the world will get it soon after. What do you guys think? Will you buy one of these for your kid, or would you rather just let them borrow your own gadgets?
