Sony Xperia i1 Honami teaser

Sony teases Xperia Z1 (aka Honami, Xperia i1) – official announcement imminent

It’s the smartphone that everyone has been talking about… well, the tech blogs anyway. That’s the tweet that went out in the wee AM hours from the official Sony Xperia Twitter account. Showing nothing more than a power button (a sexy one at that), Sony’s upcoming flagship device was teased in an image but didn’t provide much else in terms of details.

We still don’t have an official name for the device. Rumored to launch as the Sony Xperia Z1, but long known for its Honami codename (and more recently, the Sony Xperia i1). According to tipsters, the Xperia Z1 will come equipped with an upgrade in specs over the previous Sony Xperia Z, powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor (an upgrade to the S4 Pro found in the original), 20MP camera with Sony’s specialty imaging sensors capable of recording 4K video, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage with micro SD card slot.

The device remains relatively the same in the looks department, carrying the familiar all-glass construction, and similar 5-inch full 1080p HD display. The Sony Xperia Z1 is said to be officially unveiled at a Sony event on September 4th during IFA 2013 in Berlin, though when the device will actually launch in the US is another story entirely.
