Galaxy S25 Ultra deal

The folks at LG have officially announced the G2, its latest flagship smartphone (and the first to drop the “Optimus” branding). The device is one to behold, with the following list of smash mouth specs:

LG says its focus for this phone were these 5 things: design, display, camera, sound, and the overall user experience. Indeed, these are some of the most important elements of any smartphone, and LG believes it’s achieved great things in all categories.

One of LG’s prideful design choices was a dual-routing design to make for a small 2mm bezel. This allowed LG to keep the phone at around 2.7-inches wide, otherwise known as the size that most “average” hands will be able to grip the phone with. Despite having two touch sensors, the dual-routing design allows the size of the capacitive film to take up less overall space inside the phone (which allows it to be just 8.9mm thin).

The most unusual design decision comes on the back of the G2, where the power and volume functions sit beneath the camera button. The power button doesn’t even need to be pushed — just double tap it and the display will turn on. LG is also touting that its device is the first on the market to produce studio-like audio 24 bit/192kHz Hi-Fi playback.

Practical UX

Sitting on top of Android 4.2.2 is LG’s “Practical UX,” a suite of features which have been designed to make the phone easy to use for anyone using it. It’s yet another element of the company’s new “you inspire us” approach. Practical UX features the following:

 Availability

The LG G2 will be available on all major US carriers — including AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile — later this year. The device will also be widely available on many other carriers in many other countries around the world. Stay tuned for more live coverage from LG’s big event going down today!
