Verizon has just announced the Motorola DROID Mini, a 4.3-inch Android smart phone that follows the “mini” trend other big names have started as of late. Like the other devices announced today, the device will come with Motorola’s 1.7GHz X8 computing platform, which gives us a dual-core setup for application processing, quad-core graphics, a core for natural language computing and a “contextual” core.

We’re also told to expect 2GB of RAM, a 10 megapixel RGBC camera sensor, 16GB of internal storage, a 2,130mAh battery, Android 4.2, and more. All told, this is one of the nicest Mini variants we’ve seen to date, and while the display might not stack up to the DROID Ultra and DROID MAXX, it packs enough power in all the right places to make us forget about that.

Like the others in this three-way dance, the DROID Mini will also come with a suite of interesting software features, such as quick camera shutter speeds, DROID Zap for sending pictures to other nearby DROID owners, the DROID Command Center, touchless controls, and more. The Motorola DROID Mini will launch August 28th for just $100, and you can put your pre-order in over at Verizon’s website starting today.
