Let the flood gates open. With an announcement scheduled for next week and leaked documents showing the new Nexus 7 hitting retailers as early as Saturday, we knew it was only a matter of time before the device was finally pictured in the wild. The boys at Android Central were able to nab these images of the tab, even securing a quick hands-on video of the device from what appears to the be back room of one of these retailers.
While just about nothing is 100% confirmed, we can easily see the new Nexus 7 is sporting a handy 5MP on the back, and you’ll even notice the addition of an LED notification on the bottom center bezel. The new Nexus 7 also comes with dual-speakers along the back, where the Nexus logo now rests in landscape mode.
The sticker on the back of the device does list some of the specs, but after showing 4GB as the RAM (no way in hell), it’s definitely suspect. We still expect the device to come with the originally rumored Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, and possibly a higher-res 1080p display (1920×1200).
This particular retailer puts the model number at ME571K_PR1_SKU2, which leads us to believe there is also be a “SKU1”? That, or SKU1 is reserved for the older models which will also be sold along side the new version. In any case, we’ll know everything there is to know about this tablet once it’s officially unveiled during Google’s July 24th event next week. Hands-on video below.
