When Yahoo initially announced that it had acquired Astrid, the wonderful note-taking application for Android, the company hinted that the service wouldn’t last much longer than a few months thereafter. Well, they’ve reaffirmed that with a statement warning folks that the service will be fully sun-setting on August 5th, 2013.
First off, we want to sincerely thank you for being an Astrid user over the years. Your support every step of the way has meant the world to us. As of August 5, 2013, we will be closing the Astrid service.
That’s a bit less than a month from now, which will give you plenty of time to find a new service and download your data. Speaking of downloading your data, Astrid has provided an excellent tool for folks to do just that. The process is simple: just click the link and wait for an email to notify you that your download is ready.
Astrid was even kind enough to suggest users check out some of their competitors, such as Wrike, Wunderlist, Sandglaz, and Any.do. These apps should all import Astrid data with ease, so be sure to give them a try (for what it’s worth, we really like Wunderlist and Any.do here). Don’t forget to check out our post detailing some of the replacements you can take your business to. That discussion also continues over at AndroidForums.com, so don’t be shy and make an account to start participating with the great community discussing task-list apps.
