Is this a Motorola Moto X phone prototype?
With all that has been said about the Motorola Moto X up to this point, it’s amazing that we haven’t really gotten a look at the device. That might have changed this morning, however, as a leaked photo of a supposed prototype has hit the web. That this is a legit Motorola prototype isn’t hard to believe — it has those classic warnings from Motorola telling the tester that the device absolutely isn’t for resale and that it’s confidential property of the company’s.
This particular prototype is apparently running on Sprint’s 4G LTE network, has 16GB of internal storage, and is running stock Android 4.2.2 with nary a custom app from Motorola, it seems. Unfortunately the leakster didn’t have much in the way of other specs, but he believes its screen size to be somewhere around 4.5 and 4.6 inches. That person didn’t measure things up with a ruler, though, so perhaps it’s closer to 4.7 inches like previous rumors have stated.
According to said rumors, the other specs we should expect are as follows:
- 1.7GHz dual-coreSnapdragon processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 720p display
- 10 megapixel rear camera
- 2 megapixel front camera
- and more
It isn’t the end all, be all powerhouse that earlier rumors of the phones lead us to believe, but the Moto X looks poised to be an affordable option (by virtue of Google’s generosity) for those who don’t need a super fast, powerful “ZOMG look at teh gigamahertz” phone. Despite not being the biggest, baddest, most powerful option on the market, the phone would still be quite tasty looking for the right price.
Of course, judgment shall not be passed until things are made official, something we’re told to expect to happen later this summer. Take a good look above and see if the device’s sweet-looking curves are enough to get you excited for its arrival (though there’s no guarantee this is the exact model we’ll see by the time the phone launches later this year).
