AT&T has announced that it has teamed up with NEC to bring folks a super rugged smartphone that doesn’t seem to be half bad in the specs department. Fittingly enough, t’s called the NEC Terrain, and it is outfitted with a 3.1-inch touch screen, a physical QWERTY keyboard, Qualcomm’s dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, earSmart technology for being able to hear who’s on the other side of the conversation in noisy situations, and more.
The phone launches with Android 4.0, so although it’s not the latest and greatest you can have it’s still quite modern. The device also features 4G LTE radios, a 5 megapixel rear camera, a VGA front camera, 8GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, and more.
The NEC Terrain is not only rugged in its physical stature, with its MIL-810G certification, but AT&T says it can hold its own when it comes to software security, as well. That’s something that is quite important for those who want to take advantage of their company’s BYOD program. The device will be available this Friday, June 21st, for $99.99.
