T-Mobile isn’t the only US carrier interested in teasing phones today. AT&T has taken to YouTube with a teaser of its phone, showing a rather distinct Samsung phone being dunked into a glass of water. From the looks of this thing we can only conclude that it’s the Samsung Galaxy Active that was announced not too long ago, though without any official word just yet we won’t try and get too far ahead of ourselves.
We will, however, note that AT&T has enjoyed quite a fruitful relationship as of yet. To date, the carrier has gotten exclusive dibs on the 32GB version of the Galaxy S4, an Aurora Red version of the Samsung Galaxy S4, and — as of this morning — the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. And that’s just what I can remember off the top of my head.
It should come as no surprise, then, that the two are once again teaming up on another interesting device. That isn’t to say the Galaxy S4 Active will be an AT&T exclusive, but history suggests Ma Bell will be the only one biting on this device for quite some time.
In case you needed a refresher, the milspec IP67 Galaxy S4 Active is waterproof, dust proof and can handle light abuse in the elements. We expected this device to be a tad weak before it was made official — after all, rugged devices get treated like ugly ducklings everywhere else — but Samsung didn’t skimp on the specs for this beast.
It’s still a 5-inch 1080p HD device, it still has Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 600 chipset with 2GB of RAM, and it will still come with Android 4.2. It doesn’t quite live up to the Galaxy S4 name with its 8 megapixel camera sensor, but we imagine it’ll produce shots good enough for those looking to take this thing underwater for whatever reason. Watch the quick teaser above and brace yourself for an announcement at some point tomorrow.
