Google+ for Android update bringing latest features, including Snapseed integration, Hangouts button and more
When Google announced the new Google+ overhaul for the desktop and mobile web, the first question in our minds was “where’s the Android version?” We’re used to Google announcing these things in unison, but that didn’t happen this time. We figured we couldn’t be too far behind, though, and right we were: Google has just unveiled the latest major upgrade for Google+ on Android.
The app update will feature mobile access to most, if not all, of the newest features, including a Hangouts button that replaces Messenger and takes you to the all new Hangouts app, new hashtag support, Location sharing with a map view, new photo editing options built-in thanks to Snapseed technology, including auto enhance, auto highlight, auto backup and auto awesome, more beautiful layouts for viewing photos, and more.
The overall app design remains familiar, though there are some visual UI tweaks that make it all look just a bit more pretty and more polished. The update has only been detailed over at the Google+ blog for the time being, but it should be hitting the Google Play Store before sundown. Be on the lookout for it (we’ll update this post once it’s live) and get excited for a great new mobile experience!
[Update]: It looks like the new app is now live, though Google’s having some early technical difficulties. It appears someone forgot to make this thing available for those who have devices higher than Froyo or Gingerbread. Don’t worry, though, as Google is already aware and a fix should clear all of this up in due time.
