Google Android Games

Google hires “Chief Game Designer at Android Play Studio” but what does it mean?

A new hire has just joined the ranks over at Google HQ. The man is Noah Falstein and according to his LinkedIn profile, Mr. Falstein is now Google’s premier “Chief Game Designer.” What’s more is an earlier cached version of his profile worded things a little differently: “Chief Game Designer at Android Play Studio.” How ’bout that?

I know what you’re thinking, “That’s, weird. Google doesn’t make games.” Well, they kinda do. You may remember the recently released Ingress from Google’s Niantic Labs branch, a virtual reality MMO of sorts. Judging from Noah Falstein’s previous works — he was the lead designer on a few games from LucasArts, Dreamworks Interactive, and more — this dude knows games.

Given the rumors and leaks that have been floating around lately suggesting that Google could be launching a Game Center-esque platform for Android developers in the near future… it’s all starting to make sense. Nothing confirmed of course, but we’ll be keeping an eye out.
