It’s been awhile since we last heard from the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, ever since we got our hands on it at Mobile World Congress 2013. One of the sexiest designs we’ve seen from an Android tablet since this side of ever, the Xperia has been keeping a relatively low profile, waiting in the wings for what, I don’t know. Today, we’re finally seeing pre-orders for the Tablet Z go live via Sony’s online webstore. What’s more is Sony is even throwing in a free tablet dock — a $45 value — free for pre-ordererer…ers.
Speaking of that profile, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is the world’s thinnest Android tab, measuring in at barely 6.9mm thick (that’s thinner than a no. 2 pencil). Where that would normally call a device’s durability into question, the tablet goes the nines, featuring dust and waterproofing. When’s the last time you saw that from a device this sexy? Inside, the tablet features a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 10.1-inch full HD 1080p display, 8MP rear/2MP front facing cameras and a handy IR blaster for universal remote functionality.
There’s no question Sony has packed the Tablet Z with all the bells and whistles. If you hear the tablet calling your name, pre-order the 16GB version for $500, or the 32GB version for $600 via the Sony Store. Sony says the Tablet Z will being shipping this May 24th and don’t forget, you’ll also receive that sexy tablet dock free of charge as well. Our initial hands-on video from MWC can be found below.
