Verizon announces the Pantech Perception, coming April 25th for $99

Verizon Wireless doesn’t have a release date for the Samsung Galaxy S4 yet, but it wasted no time in announcing and pegging a date for the Pantech Perception. It’s a mid-range phone that will come in at $99 (following a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year contract), and features a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED HD display, something we only typically see on Samsung phones these days.

The device also sports an 8 megapixel HD camera on the rear with a 2 megapixel camera on the front, 16GB of internal storage, and 4G LTE connectivity. It’ll be launching with Android 4.0 out of the box, though Verizon assures everyone that Jelly Bean is most certainly is on the way.

Verizon is marketing this global-ready device as the perfect companion for those who often find themselves with messy hands. Dubbed Motion Sense, you can do things like answer a call, scroll through contacts, or change a song simply by waving your hand above the screen. If it sounds familiar, it’s because it’s some of the same stuff Samsung features on the Galaxy S4 (which is quite cool, might I add). You’ll be able to find the little boy wonder in Verizon’s stores this Thursday, May 25th, as well as online.
