Late last year, we reported on a new HDMI stick that promised to change any television into a smart TV. It’s called the Wise TIVI, an affordable stick that almost resembles a USB flash drive. This powerful little dual-core stick with quad-core graphics will have full access to the Google Play Store, giving users access to a whole heap of apps and games to use on the big screen. The device hasn’t changed much since we last saw it, but we now have a whole lot more information to sink our teeth into.
For starters, the remote accompanying the device has been revealed. It’s a sleek double-sided unit that has intuitive motion-enabled controls on one side and a QWERTY keypad for typing on the other. The remote is actually bigger than the Wise TIVI stick, so you can get a sense of just how small and portable the unit will be. It’s confirmed to be coming with Android 4.1.1 out of the box, will have 8GB of internal storage, support WiFi N and Bluetooth 4.0, a microSD card slot and two USB ports for peripherals and data transfer.
The device also sports a wide range of support for different audio and video codecs so it can become the centerpiece of your home entertainment system if that’s what you’re after. You’ll even get Adobe Flash 11.1 support for those websites which just don’t have an option for HTML5 video playback.
WISE is planning to begin its first commercial run in May, where it will also look to ship units to those who’ve put money in for one on IndieGoGo. The full launch is slated for July. There are a few different reward tiers you can take advantage of. The cheapest one that will allow you to walk away with a WISE TIVI costs $79 (normal price is $112), with a $5,000 pledge netting you the ability to have your app pre-installed on the first 5,000 units and get it pre-rooted.
You can have a look at the full details over at the Wise TIVI IndieGoGo project. There are 40 days to go until the project is scheduled to end, and Wise is looking for about $100,000 to get this thing off the ground. $1,400 have been raised so far so if you want to add to that total be sure to pledge some funds and cross your fingers that the company can reach its goal.
