Facebook Home now available outside the US
Facebook Home’s launch wasn’t exactly met with open arms and applause by everyone in the United States, but many international users still wanted to see what the big fuss was about for themselves. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible because Facebook Home was only available in the United States… until today. As Facebook confirmed at the Dive Into Mobile conference earlier today, the app has been updated in the Google Play Store and is now available for those outside the United States.
The app takes over your phone as a home-screen replacement, giving you a more in-your-face look at your social life with status updates and pictures presented boldly and beautifully. Couple that with the chat heads functionality in the latest Facebook Messenger update and it’s the “Facebook Phone” experience you’ve always dreamed of (maybe). Be warned that you’ll still need the following devices to play:
- HTC First
- HTC One (Future)
- HTC One X
- HTC One X+
- Samsung GALAXY S III
- Samsung Galaxy S4 (Future)
- Samsung GALAXY Note II
If you own any of those devices and want to give it a try it can be had in the Google Play Store for free. Be sure to grab the official Facebook app and the Facebook Messenger app, as well, to ensure full functionality.
