Rumor: AT&T Galaxy S4 launching April 26th

Past Galaxy S smartphone launches have taught us not to look forward to the smartphone too early here in North America. We typically don’t see launches of Samsung’s flagship series until early-mid Summer, but new evidence suggests the clock has been accelerated for the Samsung Galaxy S4. A leaked Staples document to inform employees of tentative release dates has been floating around, showing that AT&T will be the first US carrier to get a shot at the Galaxy S4 on April 26th.

Staples specifically notes that these would be the earliest “sellable” dates, so this isn’t just indication that the company’s inventory system is being populated with records of the device’s existence. Looking a bit further down the line, the document states T-Mobile will see a launch a week later on May 1st, and Verizon will get its boatload starting May 30th. It wouldn’t be wise to put much stock into a tentative date, especially when we haven’t even gotten solid news regarding the international launch just yet.

These dates are always scheduled to change and we wouldn’t be surprised if April 26th came and went without a word. We’ll be circling the date just to be sure, but don’t go causing a ruckus on the if the device isn’t in your hands 10 days from now.

The document further states that Staples will begin printing and placing ads for in-store reservations starting today, so if you happen to be in the area and want to know whether or not this document is accurate it might be worth stopping in and seeing if that is indeed the case (be a good sport and drop us a line if you find out).

Strangely enough, the three Staples stores closest to me don’t even sell mobile phones so they had no clue what I was talking about when I asked them about it over the phone. With that, all we can do is wait and see if this document has any legs or if our arm is just being pulled by someone with too much time on their hands.
