Early Google I/O invitations being sent to press with subsidized childcare offers
The general public won’t be able to register for Google I/O until March 13th, but it looks like Google is getting a head start on getting invites out to certain folks. Members of the press — including your favorite folks at Phandroid, of course — seem to be receiving the invitations, but it’s possible Google could be sending early registration invitations to select developers, as well.
It might be a long shot, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep an eye on your inbox to see if Google might have graced you with an early chance to sign-up for the show (especially if you’ve been identified as a top Google Play developer in the past). Of course, if you do happen to get an invite ahead of time that doesn’t mean you won’t have to spend a bit of money. Registration will cost between $300 and $900 depending on who you are (students get in cheaper, of course). Be prepared and have some cash on-hand just in case.
Oddly enough, Google is also offering subsidized childcare for those who can’t break away from their little ones during the three-day event. If the care of a young pup is keeping you sidelined for these events then Google’s pretty much putting a “no excuse” stamp on your ticket to development workshop heaven.
That said, even if you haven’t gotten an early invite this is a good time to remind you to get ready for general registration. We’ve already discussed in the past how you should have your Google+ profile and Google Wallet account all setup and ready to go ahead of time, and to make sure you set your alarm to give yourself some headroom of an hour or so. Google I/O 2013 registration terms and conditions:
- An individual can only purchase one ticket.
- Tickets may only be used by original purchaser. Tickets may not be resold. The resale of a ticket will render the ticket null and void without any responsibility to Google.
- Tickets may be transferred at Google’s sole discretion. Google reserves the right to reject any transfer requests.
- Persons who are:
- residents of embargoed countries,
- ordinarily resident in embargoed countries, or
- otherwise prohibited by applicable export controls and sanctions programs may not attend the conference.
- In order to register, users must have a Google Account and access to Google+.
- Photographs and/or video taken at Google I/O by Google, or others on behalf of Google, may include your image, voice, or likeness. You agree that Google may use such photographs and/or video recordings for any purpose without compensation to you.
