Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean update begins, Spain first
The wait for Jelly Bean is ending for some Samsung Galaxy S2 owners as the Android 4.1.2 update is now being pushed to handsets in Spain. This marks the beginning of what will likely be a lengthy process to deliver the new software to GS2 users around the globe.
When it does arrive, owners of the phone can expect a drastic change in user experience,. Samsung has shipped the version of Android skinned with the Nature UX version of TouchWiz, the same interface we see on the Galaxy S3. Aside from a complete overhaul in appearance, Android 4.1.2 brings such features as Google Now and Project Butter as well as Samsung’s own enhancements including S Cloud, Pop-up Play, and a selection of new widgets.
The update for the Galaxy S2 is being pushed over the air, but it will also be available through Samsung’s Kies desktop software. It brings the Gs2to build JZO54K. Samsung’s exact plans for bringing the update to other regions isn’t clear, but it looks like the carrier-unlocked international version is first up in Europe and other areas. Folks in the US should sit tight, though. Expect carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile to be among the last to push the update.
