Google Fiber Coming To 90% of Pre-Registered Kansas City Neighborhoods

In case you needed another reason to move to Kansas City, Missouri — you know, after Google announced a few weeks back that they would be one of the first cities in the country to experience their uber fast Google Fiber network — here’s another. Turns out Google is moving full steam ahead, announcing that they will be bringing Google Fiber to 180 out of 202 of the Kansas City neighborhoods that pre-registered, turning them into”fiberhoods.” Scheduling still needs to be finalized to see which neighborhoods will be first in line, but those already in the Kansas City suburbs can rest assured knowing that, chances are, it will be coming. And as the kids say: I’m totally jelly.

FFS, come to the suburbs on the Kansas side already :|

    1. Maybe that’s part of Google’s plan, to give less privileged families a chance to experience quality Internet speeds and tv, stop complaining and just use your local provider or get satellite tv.

    2. Funny I thought ALL of KC was already inferior.

    3. Comments like these use to make me say Wow but people are what they are.

  6. They should just do the entire state of rhode island.

  7. This is not even remotely accurate. Google Fiber is coming to 90% of the designated ‘fiberhoods’ eligible for the first round of connectivity. These fiberhoods may only have covered 20% of the population base in the metropolitan area.

  8. You guys hear about Time warner (I think it was them) offering their shit-ass 1GB connection sometime soon? I seriously doubt they are not only going to breached net-neutrality straight out of the gate but the price is going to be as if Google Fiber does not exist and they are going to “prioritize” who gets it.

I will bet any money this is PRECISELY what is going to happen.

  9. I live in the suburbs of Kansas City and know some people who are heading this project up and they said there is another round of sign ups coming and it will focus on the burbs

    1. Good to hear

  10. This is why I love Android /Google, because while Apple pockets its 100 billion in cash, Google goes out and invests money in communities and makes the world a better place.

  11. It’s nice for Kansas but I’m kind of like so what, I live in Cali why not start google fiber near home office of Google?
