Sony has announced availability of a new firmware upgrade for their 2011 Xperia phones that have already received Ice Cream Sandwich. The update brings us to Android 4.0.4, and in it we can find bug fixes, performance enhancements, and other changes that we may or may not know about. The list of devices to receive the firmware? Try this list on for size:
Xperia arc, Xperia arc S, Xperia neo, Xperia neo V, Xperia mini, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Xperia ray
And it’s all going out starting this week. Be warned that availability is subject to region and carrier. It’s safe to assume unlocked versions of these devices in most regions will be able to get in on it this week, while others will have to wait for their carriers to give the green light on pushing it out.
The update will be applied via an over-the-air process, but remember that you must have upgrade from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich using the PC companion tool. Only once you get that update will you be prompted to download this one. Be sure to grab the PC companion tool for Sony and Mac over at Sony’s website. [via Sony Mobile]
