Subsidized tablet pricing at AT&T ends today

Following in the footsteps of Verizon, AT&T is ending subsidized pricing of tablets shortly after the introduction of shared data plans. According to The Verge, the change will go into place today for devices such as the Pantech Element and HTC Jetstream. With the ability to add a tablet to a shared data plan for only $10/month, subsidization makes little sense for either the consumer or carrier, and with better low cost tablet options coming to market the small savings a subsidy affords likely won’t be missed.

For those still looking to avoid AT&T’s Mobile Share plan, monthly tablet data pricing has decreased to $14.99 for 250MB/month, $30 for 3GB, and $50 for 5GB.
