After announcing the previously Jelly Bean exclusive enhanced Voice Search for iOS users, Google is now giving their mobile search site a little Now-like love. Starting today, smartphone and tablet users (yes, even those on iOS) can jump onto Google’s mobile site and access interactive “quick answers” for specific search queries, similar to cards UI found in Google Now. Users can search flight times, weather information, or currency conversions and interact with them users sliders to change weather time, or flight distance.
Search has always been Google’s bread and butter, and it’s nice to see getting a little smarter and more intuitive. Google also promised that this feature will rollout eventually to their desktop site, but didn’t give a specific time frame. Now if only Google could update their Search app for Android users on Ice Cream Sandwich and below, all would be right in the world.
Just finished my midterm and came to come take a look and I see this awesome feature. *waits for more news on Motorola Photon Q*
You and that Photon Q! You’re really smitten with that thing, aren’t you? xD
Haven’t had a QWERTY since I sadly left my G2 last Oct when wii moved over to Sprint. Had the G2 for the longest out of ally smart phones. I was willing to finish my contract with that phone. LoL!!
Be nice if they’d update the ICS (and GB I guess) search too.
It shouldn’t matter what version of Android you’re running, as these new features are available on the google mobile website – not an app.
He was talking about the new Voice Search features Google recently updated their app with on iOS but forgot all about Android users =/
Oops misread! Have you not had a chance to try a release on xda developers yet? Not really a fan, seem more of a novelty feature. Hurry up on ubunto for android tho :)
It’s funny you have to change Google’s language in Settings to get the new features. Aparently searching “weather 91730” in google.com (or even google.es) is not enough unless you set it to English in Google web Settings… I’m not talking about other languages support, but this is just silly IMHO. Same thing for Google Now…
:)
Rancho Cucamonga! That’s by where I live! First Workaholics, now Phandroid! Coming up in the world. haha
Chris Chavez, you from Rancho?
