But they are warning of limited supply through Mother’s Day (May 13th). The new version of the Android-based e-reader is shipping the device ahead of schedule to meet “strong demand” from consumers who pre-ordered the device. The NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight is the first digital reader to feature a front-lit eInk display, which allows for comfortable reading even in dark settings. Traditional eInk displays, though exceptionally readable in nearly any lighting condition, have been lacking in lowlight conditions.
Barnes & Noble is fulfilling pre-orders on a first-come, first-served basis. New pre-orders are still being accepted for the new NOOK Simple Touch, which retails for $139.

I just ordered one today. On the Barnes & Noble web site, it says “This item will be available on May 7, 2012.” which is 6 days after the release date, but the e-mail confirmation said “Expected Ship Date 04-25-2012”.
I am really looking forward to the GlowLight. I like to read in a room that has low light. I bought an attachable reading light to my current NOOK Simple Touch, but it is annoying because I have to adjust the light for both the top of the page and bottom of the page. The GlowLight seems like a perfect solution.
Could Barnes & Noble be exaggerating when they say “strong demand” and “limited supply” to increase interest in the device? After all, I just ordered it today and they are shipping it tomorrow.
I pre-ordered a week ago. The B&N site originally said shipping May 1. Then it said May 7, and I started losing hope. But just got an email today (25 April) that it is shipping today!
