I’m not sure what it is about pro tennis player Maria Sharapova, but she has a thing for phones and phones seemingly have a thing for her. After having stints with the likes of Motorola and Sony Ericsson, Sharapova has signed on with Samsung for a three-year endorsement deal. We’re not sure how she’ll be used exactly. Sony Ericsson enjoyed a brief series of advertisements and video unboxing, as well as obligatory unveiling photos.
It’s hard to imagine her role with Samsung will be far from that. Unfortunately, her contract with Samsung is not particularly huge as it only covers activity in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (her home region). There’s a chance that things could break out of Russia, however, as her agent says her contract leaves room for growth into the global realm by next year. [Samsung Tomorrow, Bloomberg via The Verge]
