Earlier today we learned that the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket LTE for AT&T had it’s official build of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich leaked and now here we are, later on in the night, and the OG GSII on AT&T is getting the ICS treatment as well.
A semi-official build, straight from Samsung was leaked for the device and our friends at RootzWiki were able to get ahold of the system image where it can be flashed using Odin. Users are reporting that pretty much everything is working without hiccup, so we’re looking at a near-release build of Android 4.0 (with TouchWiz) for the Galaxy S II.
Installation is a fairly easy process but as Dima in our comments points out, this will mess with your bootloader. That being said, unless you have experience in these matters, it may be better off to wait until the device officially receives its update via Samsung/AT&T.
Include the fact that the one click format it comes in flashes bootloaders. That’s not good. Wait for ROMs.
Seriously, why is everyone so scared of bootloaders?? Just don’t flash your phone during a thunderstorm, and make sure you have plenty of battery, and the chance of a hard brick is like .001%
They shouldn’t be. But a warning should be posted. Keep people educated. Bootloaders aren’t dangerous. But sometimes its better to keep old ones.
T-mobile version going to “leak” soon. Lol
Samsung’s gonna have a big mess to clean up O_o
That it will, if the leaker has anything to do with it. Both the Skyrocket and OG SII ICS ROMs have been leaked by the same guy
what version of touchwiz its going to be tho?
Still TouchWiz 4.0, that won’t change. They reserve TW updates to new phones. Like how the Galaxy S got Gingerbread with TW3.
Verizon is SLACKING… Nothing new I guess
Huh, what?
Its looking like gem in android series.
Hopefully this means ICS for the Note will leak soon.
its already leaked hasn’t it? oh maybe just for Europe & world
I’ve heard the chinese one leaked and maybe another usable one, but I’m not rooting just yet.
GS II ICS updates still look a bit dissapointing to me… HTC did a better job so far.
Would not ROOT my phone. when phones are ROOTED certain apps are not compatible when rooted. I’ll wait for the official ICS
Yaay! ’bout time!
