Tank Hero is definitely an old-school favorite ’round these parts and today we learned that the developer Clapfoot Inc. has released the balls-to-the-wall sequel — Take Hero: Laser Wars — today on Google Play. Where the original focused more on its solid gameplay, I never could find myself getting into the visuals which were designed to look like toy tanks and environments, and less of a real nitty-gritty action shooter. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Clapfoot decided to go for a more serious approach this time around, with an entirely new gaming engine with realistic lighting effects and detailed textures. Bravo, Clapfoot. Bra-freakin’-vo.
There’s also a little more to the sequel than a graphics revamp. THLW now features a 2-player splitscreen deathmatch mode (tablets only), boss battles and all new environments. The game is also one, all inclusive 22MB download (no extra system resources download) and there’s no license check which means the game should work just fine when your phone or tablet doesn’t have an active data connection.
Features include:
The developer did mention that because the first title was so successful, they’ve taken there game dev’ing full time. This means Take Hero: Laser Wars will no longer be a free title, but on the brightside, it will now remain ad-free. I have no problem supporting Android developers — especially good ones — and have already downloaded Take Hero: Laser Wars for only $3 on Google Play. You should too.
