Confirmed: Samsung Galaxy S III will not be at Mobile World Congress, separate event to follow
Though many assumed that the Samsung Galaxy S III would be unveiled at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, we can hang up any hopes of that happening. The event seemed like the logical place to host a coming out party for the successor to the Galaxy S II, the flagship handset revealed at the global trade show a little over a year ago, but uncertainty arose after Samsung executives suggested they were still reviewing the possibility. Samsung has confirmed in a statement released to TechRadar that we will have to wait for a separate event to get our first official glimpse at the GS3. Yes, the phone is just too big of a deal to have to share floor space with Samsung’s other new devices. That or the latest Galaxy S device isn’t quite ready to greet the public. “Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012. The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.”
