Become an evil Sith lord with Darth Maul Me
Lucasfilm is getting the promotional train rolling for the re-release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 3D with the release of Darth Maul Me for Android. As the name may or may not make clear, the app allows you to take a photo of yourself or a friend and use some simple onscreen controls to transform your face into that of the evil Sith lord Darth Maul.
The results, as you can see above, aren’t always the best. Especially if you have to take the image yourself. The app allows for the use of the front-facing camera, but at least on the Galaxy Nexus I used to capture the above image the photo was captured upside down. You can reorientate the photo in later steps, but it is time consuming. After snapping your photo you manipulate the image to make sure it lines up with the template provided and choose to either take on Darth Maul’s face, his tattoos, or his glaring evil eyes.
