Looks like we can predict the future: MetroPCS this morning announced the addition of the LG Connect 4G to their lineup of 4G Android Phones. Powered by Android 2.3 and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, the Connect 4G doesn’t overwhelm, but the important factor LG and MetroPCS remind us of is the combination of speed and affordability:
“LG Connect 4G provides MetroPCS customers with a fast and affordable 4G LTE device that delivers a powerful multimedia experience,” said Tim O’Brien, vice president of marketing for LG Mobile.
An affordable dual-core 4G device is a pretty enticing product proposition. In fact, there haven’t been many dual core 4G Android Phones launched in the history of the world, yet somehow seeing 2.3 will undercut the product’s actual value for those wanting the latest (4.0) version of Android guaranteed.
The Connect sports a 4-inch screen with NOVA display and Corning Gorilla Glass, 5MP camera with flash, front-facing camera, dolby-digital sound, and pre-loaded with Rhapsody Unlimited Music Service.
Then comes the affordability. While I have yet to see an actual price attached to the phone, they do mention the no-contract offering will be available for $50 or $60 per month. The $50 a month has a 1GB streaming video cap while the $60/month is unlimited. Considering you’ve got 4G service, you’ll probably want to ante up the extra $10 bucks and squeeze out all the bandwidth you can.
