Free Nook Simple Touch, $99 Nook Color with NYT Subscription

3

Considering an Android Tablet for digitally reading your periodicals? Like the New York Times? Barnes & Nobles has conjoured up a deal that might be up your alley. If you commit to a 1-year subscription to the New York Times at $19.99/month, you can now get the Nook Simple Touch for Free or the Nook Color for $99. The promotion lasts until March.

In each scenario you’re saving $99, while the NYT subscription will cost you $240. Once you do this math, it leaves you wondering if you’re actually getting a deal at all. I’d consider this more of a creative marketing strategy than a must snag deal… but for any of our readers that were already planning to subscribe to the New York Times, now might be the time to buy.

  1. Hmm most likely it is the $15 dollar a month NYT subscription for Smartphones.
A normal subscription is 99 cents for the first 4 weeks, and $15 for each 4 weeks after that. $165.99 for total yearly subscription.

So you will be paying more if you got the subscription this way. But that is how they covered the cost of the Nook.
