HTC Ville Puts Dual-core Snapdragon in a Slim Package
As HTC wraps up its new releases for 2011, focus has shifted to what is to come in the new year. The HTC Edge and HTC Zeta have been rumored to debut quad-core processors in the Taiwanese manufacturer’s Android lineup, but the HTC Ville looks to cash in on slim. The Ville is said to be HTC’s thinnest Android phone to date, measuring in at the 8mm sweet spot. The phone first cropped up earlier in the month, but an image has leaked of the rumored handset showing off its thin profile and familiar metal unibody design. The Ville could be among the first crop of smartphones to utilize Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon S4 platform, a dual-core chip said to come clocked at 1.5GHz. Other specs include a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, an 8MP backside-illuminated camera, and Beat Audio support. The Ville will run Ice Cream Sandwich with a Sense 4.0 wrapper.
We are expecting to see the Ville unveiled at Mobile World Congress, undoubtedly with a new name. THe Snapdragon S4’s integrated LTE modem could mean a release on either AT&T or Verizon, though Sprint isn’t out of the question (they will be rolling out LTE sometime next year).
