Huawei is in the midst of announcing a bunch of Android devices including the AT&T Impulse 4G, Cricket Ascend 2, and the T-Mobile SpringBoard. The latter of those is a 7-inch Android Tablet with which we snagged a quick hands-on video:
The SpringBoard might be the best build quality I’ve seen from a Huawei device to date. It looks good, feels good, and just seems like an all-around compact, light but sturdy tablet. The 1280 x 800 pixel resolution on that 7-inch screen looks dynamite at first glance- crystal clear. Our immediate impression was just that: impressed.
The device has a rear 5MP camera and front-facing 1.3 MP camera which we haven’t yet tested. On the right side of the device is a MicroUSB port MicroHDMI slot, and power input. The top has the volume rocker and power button. On the left you’ll find the 3.5mm headset jack and speaker while on the bottom isn’t much of anything.
Powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, we didn’t have enough time to play with the SpringBoard to really make a determination on it’s stability, but so far so good. The jury is still out on what manufacturers and carriers can turn into a success in the tablet world, but for what it’s worth, those seeking a 7-incher should know that I like the chances of the T-Mobile SpringBoard out of the gate.
We’ll certainly have more on this device as time rolls on but for now, at first glance, what do you think?
