Sharp Ups their Game, Announces High-Powered Aquos 104SH with Android Ice Cream Sandwich

If you thought the AQUOS 102SH was the only thing Sharp had up its sleeve, guess again. The company looks to make an even bigger splash in Japan with the announcement of the Sharp AQUOS 104SH. While the manufacturer has room for improvement in the naming department, they don’t miss a step when it comes to the hardware found inside their latest creation. First and foremost, the AQUOS 104SH promises to be Sharp’s first handset running Android Ice Cream Sandwich. But that is merely the icing on top of a big piece of cake sporting a 4.5-inch HD display, 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4460 CPU, and a 12.1MP camera. It packs a tri-band globetrotting radio capable of downlink speeds up to 21Mbps.

Perhaps the most disappointing part of the handset’s announcement is its release date, which won’t roll around until spring of 2012. At that time it will join other handsets such as Dell’s newly announced Streak Pro 101DL on Japan’s SoftBank. Pricing is not known at this time.
