HTC Amaze 4G Shows Off HSPA+ Data Speeds Ahead Of October Launch [Videos]

21

The HTC Amaze 4G was only officially announced 3 days ago and someone has already gotten a hold of the device ahead of its October 10th launch date. So what did this lucky Amaze owner do? Lucky for us, he took to YouTube to show off one of the Amaze’s most amazing features — its 42Mbps HSPA+ data speeds. There’s actually 2 separate videos for you guys to gawk over. 1st one shows off a few speed tests of the device in downtown Chicago (a certified HSPA+ city) and even compares it to the data speeds of the G2X. Have a gander.

Next up is some real world tests of how the browser takes to handling webpages (load times, responsiveness, etc.). As expected, webpages load up super quick thanks in part to T-Mobile’s uber-fast network in Chicago. Something I’m quite envious about. Take a look and be amazed.

And that pretty much wraps up for the HTC Amaze 4G network test. Even though I’m on Sprint, I’m salivating over those amazing data speeds. The lucky Amaze owner is taking requests via his YouTube videos if you want to see more tests of the device. As a refresher, the HTC Amaze 4G will be available October 10th for $260 after $50 mail-in-rebate and a 2 year agreement. Anyone going to pick up this amazin— (okay I’ll stop) device?

  1. Cool, too bad they’re still GPRS and EDGE in most of Nor*Cal.

  2. I just ran a speedtest for vzw 4g on my TBolt where I am at…I got 13.17Mbps/2.23Mbps…but my Ping was only 83ms. =)

    1. Nice, just turn on hotspot, and you can play MW2 everywhere :P

  3. 42+ may be faster but TMO will never match VZW LTE coverage. and when LTE goes next gen in 2012/13 I don’t believe it will be a HW upgrade only SW.

    1. Are you kidding me? The 42mbps is available in a ton of more places than Verizon LTE. Plus it’s a million times better on battery life.

T-Mobile’s America’s Largest 4G network schtick ain’t for nothin (translation: T-Mobile has more 4G coverage than Verizon)

      1. Hahaha you do realize 42+ mbps is purely theoretical and that he is probably one of only few people who actually have the phone? That 14.99 is going to go down by A LOT when more users are on

        1. Doesn’t matter how many people have that phone.

        2. Unlike LTE, HSPA+ is built on the same spectrum of every customer using a 3G, hspa 14.4 and 21mbps phones. So yeah he’s the only 42mbps device but it doesn’t make sense his speeds would go down because he’s ALREADY sharing bandwidth with every tmobile 3G and and current 4G customer. Sharing that bandwidth with all those phones gets him the same speeds of Verizons LTE which has barely any devices running on it. Like 5 I think? Plus tmobile is cheaper so that’s a win.

  4. That black Amaze is one sexy phone.

  5. MW2? Ppl still play that crap? I’m all about BF3 beta!

This phone is dope i want one.

  6. The uploader has closed their YouTube account and this just posted?? Thanks for wasting everyones time Chris.

    1. Weird. I’m sorry I couldn’t predict the future and somehow knew he was going to take down his videos.

It was up for a good couple of hours. Oh yeah — and you’re welcome. =p

  7. Haha someone got busted… video gone

  8. The uploader has closed their YouTube account

  9. no video :(

  10. FYI
The video showed 14.99 megabits on speed test and 2500 points on quadrent.

  11. I have both carriers, believe it or not T-Mobile has a much more consistent 4G Network. Battery life is great, never switching from 3 to 4G. I get the same speeds on both carriers give or take. During the day I am getting on average about 10 to 17 MB Download and around 3.5 MB upload on Verizon, The T-Mobile speeds are just a little bit slower on DL but the UL is the same. T-Mobile has a kick ass 4G Network and has more cities covered then Verizon. AT&T is so far out in left field, They have the worst and advertise the fastest. Just shows they are so pathetic. T-Mobile with the proper advertising and the right people behind them could go very far in this country. I am hoping they can pull thru and stay T-Mobile In the USA.

  12. that’s the same 1.5ghz snapdragon processor the gs2 hercules will have right? that’s kind of a shame….. this is a nice phone though.. i would love to have the camera features this phone has
