Sony Ericsson Prepping For Global Release of New Flagship 720p Nozomi Handset [Rumor]

17

Sony Ericsson may still have a few surprises up their sleeves with the upcoming release of a new flagship phone code named “Nozomi.” being rumored to launch in Japan later this year. According to a tipster over at XperiaBlog, the device is rumored to launch by years end in Japan under the model number SO-02D on Docomo’s network. In the latest rumor, the phone will also be released globally with the model numbers LT26i/LT26a.

The phone’s rumored specs include a 4.3-inch 1280×720 HD display (the new standard in rumored devices), 1.4GHz Snapdragon single-core processor, 1GB of RAM and support for a Micro SIM card. I’ve always been a big fan of Sony Ericsson and their devices and if they can bump that single-core processor up a few more cores, I think I would be sold. What do you guys think?

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. Come to verizon se makes sweet looking phones.

    1. Shoot… If they just released the Arc with a dual-core over here, I’d be happy =p

      1. Agree

  2. Sounds like a low level top tier phone.

I’m sure it’ll be a great device but I’m also fairly sure it will cost the same as other top tier devices which will, most likely, carry better specs.

  3. SE has not wowed me with a phone since around the time color screens/cameras started popping up on phones.

    1. sony are probably the only phone maker which still makes good looking phones… chuck a load of HTC, LG and samsung phones into a box and youd be hard pressed to tell the difference. but add an xperia x10 or arc to the bunch and theyll stand out a mile.

      1. i agree.an educated comment

  4. Nozomi means “Hope” in Japanese

There’s a sushi place near my place with the same name and they make some awesome Yakisoba =op

    1. Now you’re making me hungry o_O

      1. This is making me wish (more) that Sega would finally green light Shemue 3. I’ve only been waiting 10 freakin’ years to finish the story :/
(Nozomi was the name of Ryo Hazuki’s (main character) not-really-girlfriend). Dammit. They need to do it or stop teasing Shenmue fans every few years at E3.
        /end irrelevant rant

  5. I love how global means everyone except the United States

  6. I love its a “global” phone but its missing the 1700 mhz band

  7. Looks like it might have Sony’s Exmor image sensor, too.

  8. Pity about the single core CPU, it’s going to hold that phone back.

  9. i dont think about Sony when I think about Android.

  10. They don’t want to compete against the vita. Phones are killing handhelds already.

  11. Except for the screen size and single-core processor that phone sounds similar to this one: http://www.concept-phones.com/sony-ericsson/sony-ericsson-w9-walkman-android-phone-features-dual-core-cpu-bravia-touchscreen/

If SE released a phone as described in the link in the U.S. I’d buy it without hesitation… it’s a pity they probably won’t.

Oh well. GS II it is.
